Pastoral Visitors training – anyone interested in the course 'Encircled in Care' for Pastoral visitors, the first session will be on Saturday morning 3rd November at Kingswood (NG8 1FN) and they will arrange further dates at that first meeting approx once every 5-6 weeks.  The sessions are Bible-based focussing on different aspects of pastoral care - the first aiming to explore the values of Christian caring, reflect on a Bible passage to inform our pastoral practice and to understand some basic principles of good practice within our caring. Later topics include listening skills, prayer in pastoral visiting, connecting care to discipleship etc. Tea and biscuits served from 10 am, the session runs from 10.30 to 12noon.  Please let Libby know if you are interested in attending.

The Shoe Box appeal this year is for Children in Distress. Just a reminder that the shoeboxes are being collected on Tuesday the 6th November so could all boxes be in by Sunday the 4th please Thank you, Margaret Radford.

Book Stall!! - Thank you very much to everyone for all your donations to the bookstall over the past few months. We are delighted to say that we have sent another £72 to the Leprosy Mission and received a Thank you note which is on the Community Notice Board.  We now have more books than we can fit on the bookstall so are planning on having a book sale on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday 16th and 17th of November.  So do have a clear out of your bookshelves and bring them to church before that weekend, either leave them in the office or by the book shelves.

The Leprosy Mission also do a Christmas catalogue of cards and gifts which you can find downstairs.

Wednesday 31st October - Trinity is having a Light Party for children any age from 6pm - 7.30pm. We will be playing games, trying some crafts and eating pizzas and snacks. Parents very welcome to stay and join in. Please wear something bright. There are invitations in the foyer if you would like to invite friends and family.

We need someone to take responsibility for looking after the office and photocopier.  Anyone who would be able to serve in this way please see John or Celia.

Following the success of last year’s Boxing Day Social we are again hoping to host a meal for those in our community who might otherwise be alone during the festive season. Before I can start advertising I again need to ask for volunteers as there is a need to have a minimum number. If you are willing to share your Boxing Day with others in our community, please let Tarnia know and sign up on the sheet on the notice board. Thank you

CHRISTMAS FAYRE NOVEMBER 24th - The Christmas Fayre is only 4 weeks away. This year our 2 charities are Maggies Centre at the Nottingham City Hospital which offers practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and and their loved ones and Aquabox, which is a charity and community project set up and managed by the Rotary Club of Wirksworth to provide safe drinking water, through the use of filtration units, and humanitarian aid to crisis zones around the world. Both these charities have web sites if you would like to know more. We already have lots of stalls booked and so we just need to ask you to contribute to our 3 stalls:

Cakes Stall - please bring on the day or leave at church from Thursday onwards

Unused Gifts - any new unused gifts you have please give to Jane Allen or Celia Smith or Tracy Bird before the day or leave at church with a label on saying it is for the Christmas Fayre.

Bottle Stall - if everyone at church could donate a bottle we would have over 100 bottles on the stall.  Again please leave at church or give to Jane etc

Lastly, we are asking for contributions to the Christmas Hamper there will be a list downstairs for people to sign up for and the empty hamper will be there in a couple of weeks for you to put the goodies in.

Many many thanks for all your support and let’s make this the best Christmas Fayre supporting two amazing charities.
